Descendants of Levin Hodson (1772-1809)

The provisions of The Hodson Trust allow the trustees, in their sole and absolute discretion, (1) to offer financial assistance to qualified descendants of Levin Hodson (b. 1772, d. 1809) or any widow of such descendant who may be necessitous and (2) to make grants for educational purposes. Only descendants of Levin Hodson who are less than twenty-four (24) years of age are eligible for consideration for educational grants to assist in securing a college, high school, middle school, elementary school, classical, professional, or vocational education. Should you or your children need financial assistance, you may wish to apply to the trustees under these provisions. It is important to note that, by its terms, The Hodson Trust terminates on November 19, 2022. Accordingly, the trustees will no longer make educational grants for any period after the spring semester of 2022. For a student to receive four-year college support, he or she would have begun school by the fall semester of 2018. The last academic year where support can be provided is 2021/2022. The following schedule sets forth when applications should be made:

Academic Year Apply to The Hodson Trust
Prior to July 15
2021/2022 2021
The Hodson Trust will no longer make educational grants after the spring semester of 2022

Financial assistance and educational grants will not be awarded except in cases of demonstrated financial hardship. If you wish to be considered for grants from the Trust, you must send the trustees a written request for financial assistance. The trustees will require (1) copies of your filed 2020 and 2019 federal income tax returns (including copies of all W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, etc.), (2) a copy of your birth certificate, (3) a copy of your marriage certificate, if you are married, (4) a copy of your children's birth certificates, if the request is for them, and (5) any other documentation demonstrating the need for the requested assistance.

In addition, you will be required to complete a parents' financial statement (online) from a nationally recognized processing service who will issue a report to The Hodson Trust after approximately three weeks. The trustees will then evaluate the data and will give their answer to your request, which may be favorable or unfavorable, in the trustees' sole and absolute discretion.
